The 2010 New Heart for Heywood Calendar > >
Our 2010 calendar has been created using an Arts Consultation which took place at the very start of the NDC
Programme. The exercise asked you, the people of the town, to tell us what you wanted to see. We’ve picked out
some of the many programmes promises we have delivered on. 2009 saw some major changes to the Heywood skyline.
The award-winning Phoenix Centre, offering a wide
range of health and council services, was completed. It was officially opened in November by Baroness Kay
Andrews. The state of the art Sports, Culture and Leisure Village on West Starkey Street was started. When
completed later this year it will offer a wide range of sporting and cultural facilities.
Work was also completed
to the fronts and rears of properties on Market Street giving Heywood town centre a fresh and attractive look.
New Heart for Heywood remains committed to its partnership approach in continuing with its Skills and
Employment projects such as At Work and Skills 4 U, Health and Wellbeing by putting in place its Health
Activities Development Programme (HADP) and also with Heywood’s Young Spirit.
The Business Support
Programme also continues to run, located at TOPS Business Centre (The Old Police Station), helping businesses
with Start Up grants, networking opportunities and skills workshops.
