Heady Hill Area > >

The small area of Heady Hill, on the edge of the town centre between Bury Old Road and Bury New Road, was a mass of terrace streets until 1958. This is when new houses were wanted for the post war generation.
Most of the terraces were bulldozed and new streets created to house two storey brick built flats with courtyards. The first people to be rehoused came from the destryoed terraces on Union Street, which was renamed Heady Hill Road. The modern homes were much in demand when they were first built but eventually got run down.
Two of the biggest blocks of flats were demolished in January 2003 to make way for a new housing development.
