The New Deal for Communities (NDC) project is one of the key elements in the Government’s National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal. This strategy aims to tackle social exclusion by narrowing the gap between the poorest neighbourhoods and the rest of the country.

Every summer, Rochdale’s indoor venues and town centre are filled with some of the best musicians, star chefs and artists. An exciting and inspiring explosion for the senses! Look out for the big main stage by the beautiful Rochdale Town Hall on Saturday, with a great line up of live performances.
Work on the new Heywood Sports, Culture & Leisure Village
Started on Monday 15th June.
To ensure smooth running of the project from the outset, all visitors to the Sports Complex are advised that direct access between the Gaskell Swimming Pool and the Jack Talbot Sports Hall will be restricted from 15 June to allow enabling works to be progressed.
Access will be via the pavement on West Starkey Street and not directly across the car park.

Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team is working hard to address the issues affecting your community and to reduce crime in our town.
Regular surgeries, PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings and forums with the community have helped us identify burglary, anti-social behaviour, youths causing annoyance, drug dealing and off road bikes as key areas to target as these are having a negative impact on Heywood residents.
As a team we are continuing to work with our partner agencies such as Rochdale Borough Council, Rochdale Borough wide Housing, GMPTE and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Together we are working to make Heywood a safer place.
Sure Start Children’s Centres are places where children under 5 years old and their families can receive a range of services and information under one roof.
Parents and carers can also access help from teams of professionals including Midwives, Speech Therapists, Specialists offering advice on employment and Specialists in family support.
The landscape of Heywood could change dramatically with the introduction of a joint partnership plan called Sustainable Urban Neighbourhoods, or SUN for short.
The plans set out ideas to change several areas of Heywood to encourage growth, as well as improving employment and leisure prospects, along with the environment for the town, over the next 10 to 15 years ...
