St Luke's Church, Church Street
The church of St Luke the Evangelist is the focal point of the town centre. The first stone of the present building was laid on 31st May 1860 and consecrated on 8th October 1862. The tower is detached from the church and the spire is 189 feet high. |

Ashworth Valley, Naden Valley & Carr Wood
Protected from overgrazing by their steep sides these valleys has been rejuvenated into fine examples of deciduous woodland with a range of habitats and wildlife. Both valleys hold remnants of the industrial archaeology of the area with a number of mill ruins showing the importance of this area in the industrial revolution. This is a popular area for walking, following the course of Cheesden Brook from its moorland source near Knowl Hill above Norden.

Queen's Park, Queen’s Park Road
A major park of landscape and historical importance, originally presented to the people of Heywood by Queen Victoria in 1879. Queen's Park is a well-laid out park sloping to the river valley with gardens and lake. Facilities include tennis courts, bowling greens - and for the children there are recently refurbished play areas. Major restoration works are currently being undertaken on the Lodge House, Open Air Theatre, Fountain and Café along with improved access, pathways and landscaping. The park has a very popular BMX track which hosts national events.

East Lancashire Railway, Heywood Station, Railway Street
The Heywood section of the East Lancs Railway was opened by Music Guru and train fanatic Pete Waterman on Saturday 6th September 2003. A trip on a steam or diesel train will take you back in time with a 26 mile round trip along the Irwell Valley. Trains run weekends and bank holidays with seasonal events.

Phoenix Brewery, Green Lane
Heywood’s very own brewery! The building was previously owned by Bass brewery and closed in 1960 after over 150 years in operation. The brewery was reopened in 1991 by the Oak Brewing Company who changed their name to Phoenix in 1996.

Heywood MAGIC Market, Hartley Street
At Heywood Market, they have more than 35 stalls occupied at the moment which is about 95% capacity.
On the market you can find most things you can buy on the High Street, including fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and bread. All the latest Ladies and Gents fashions, Cafes, pictures, lighting, books, household goods, carpets, ethnic items and even a tarot reader!!

Heywood Cricket Club, Woodfield Terrace, Aspinall Street
Heywood Cricket Club is a founder member of the Central Lancashire Cricket League and is probably the oldest sporting club in the town.
